Introduction

Fishing boats come in many shapes and sizes and vary in use from the large trawlers that are common to the harbors of Ireland to the small pike rings we see in use on lakes today.

Fishing boats are a great way to get into the smaller parts of lakes and rivers that are usually inaccessible from the banks and allow you to fish from a mobile platform

You can cover much more water in a boat compared to staying in spot for an entire day which increases the opportunity to catch more

Sea fishing boats tend to be larger than those on the fresh water lakes and rivers and are an excellent way of getting to much deeper water to fish.

Fishing Boats

Fishing boats have developed over the year from the very first style boats carver from tree to rudimentary rafts and then to structured boats varying in lengths and width.

The materials used to build boats today have developed considerably and with most material becoming lighter and more affordable the style of boats has also grown from entirely open top row boats to fully enclosed cruisers with bedrooms, all can be used to good effect for fishing

Fishing Boat Safety

Fishing boat safety is essential no matter wheat style of fishing your pursuing and an attitude of "it will never happen to me" is dangerous. Make safety your number one priority before setting off and you'll enjoy your fishing always so whether your lure fishing for pike or game fishing for trout the dangers still apply and need to be taken seriously.

Engines

Some boats have internal engines built into the structure of the boat and we see these more in larger boats like sea fishing boats or cruisers, these type of boats will carry more people but do end to be more expensive and a little less maneuverable.

The small open topped style fishing boats are very agile and usually have outboard motors that can be removed from the boat for storage, these boats can also be fitting with smaller motors to allow further quiet handling on lakes and rivers.

Most boats use a petrol or diesel engine for power but the small engines used for stabilizing a boat in a current are electric and are run from a battery.
